With this event we hope to increase awareness of the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates®) Program and recruit more volunteer advocates. The cost of providing a volunteer for child who has been a victim of abuse or neglect is $1,000 per child, per year. Family Advocates currently has 182 children in our program and there are 53 children in LaPorte County still waiting for a volunteer. Proceeds from the race will directly help Family Advocates recruit and train CASA volunteers to give a voice to abused and neglected children in court and the foster care system.
