Door Prairie Barn

Located just south of La Porte city limits in an area of LaPorte County known as ‘Door Prairie,’ the Door Prairie Barn is one of the state’s most picturesque and unusual barns. This nine-sided, two-story structure is the oldest existing polygonal barn left standing in the State of Indiana. Built in 1982 by horse breeder and short-horn cattle rancher Marion Ridgeway, the barn’s layout and structure have remain unchanged its dedication, allowing it to serve as a direct link to the agricultural past of both the community and state. The Door Prairie Barn was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
